changing poor designed front suspension on 01 3500

seems like the 2000 and newer front ends do a ton of wondering on the road, ive heard of people changing the steering components from other years to 2000-2003 trucks and getting rid of the issue,i believe the front tie rod is the main thing they are changing i believe from the y style to a 1 piece tie rod from wheel to wheel, any one have a idea what the tie rod is off of they are using for this job?or any idea of how to make the horrible steering on the trucks work properly?my 95 never wondered like this 01 does, and it seems to be all of the newer ones, it isnt like i have not replaced enough parts, did ball joints, tie rods and ends.drag link stabilizer, and yes the steering box,in another week i will be straightening it out on my own, but figured i save my self some searching if somone else did the homework to fix thiers, any help would be greatly appreciated,

There is some info on pavementsucks.com as well as the tdr. If I remeber right to convert the steering to the better stock setup youtake all the parts from a 98 and put them in your truck. The tie rod end that joins the pitman arm has to stay the same as the year of your truck though. For a even better aftermarket setupyou want to do the cross over converstion that Cowhand has. Once you put that convertion in it would be a lot of work to go back to stock (just a side note). I don't think you would ever want too, it looks like a realy good mod. Since you have done the box already and the joints that rules them out. There is still the box brace, after market steering shaft, or hydro steering that I have read about. Don't forget about the track bar, that is a hole new can of worms

I converted my "Y" setup to old school with 1 piece tie rod.Put new trackbar on and still did not feel good so i made my own with heim end and steering used stock tie rod ends and DOM steel,no more drifting or changing my toe in/out when i put plow on or carry a heavy load.I will post pic soon,am working on longer link arms.
