Catcher Questions
The bombing bug has hit me again, first it was with just making my truck louder but now i want to put more power to it. I've seen alot online about the MAD or Catcher ECMs for 24v trucks. From what i gather they put out about the same hp as an EZ but it is a completely reprogramed ECM instead of a box. How would this Catcher affect my stock 02 24v auto? you can see my sig for everything i've done. I do some towing and heard its very good for towing with. I just wanna make sure that if i order one that when i put it in i won't grenade my 47re right away, although i do plan on some kind of tranny or a TC and VB soon before i put injectors or other fun toys on it. And where would i find the Catcher and about how much is one?
Thanks
matt
Thanks

The dyno numbers are about the same as an ez, but the catcher is a very different monster
. Lots of low end and very fun to drive. I ran the stock trans for about 30k with the ez, but toasted it within 2 weeks with the catcher. The catcher is better than any on timing only box, but thats just my 2 cents

Take a look at http://smokindiesel.com/dodge/24_valve/mad_ecm.htm
the catcher i installed was like night and day and the performance is unreal
when i first installed it the ECM had a flaw so bob sent me a new one i reinstalled the stock ECM and could not believe what a pig the truck was(slow off the line)I dont have an auto trans but the catcher lives up to its programing .If i had 1 neg. thing to say it would be the smoke but with a little time you will learn how to drive with it and not make smoke, its not hard just need to be easy on the go stick . seat of the pants feel makes you think the truck is 2X as fast as it was!maybe it is

Installing the CATCHER will really wake up the bottom end and takeoff power. If you add injectors it is even better
I ran mine with stock tranny with just a shift kit, but even just the CATCHER overpowered my tranny on a couple of light brakestand burnouts
, but would hold easily on hard launches all the time until I upgraded trans. I think you would be surprised at how much just this mod will increase responsiveness, even with stock injectors. It will take a little getting used to for smoke and power control(you can't floor it off the line, it will hesitate if you do), but is QUICKLY mastered.
Because I tow lots I decided to upgrade to Mach 1.6's, and with these it is a very stout puller and very quick daily driver
. If your tranny is in decent shape still, you could install a shift kit and or torque, this will help hold power much better. If tranny is weak now, or lots of miles it will show up very soon
(with just the CATCHER). Lots of good reading on search function under MAD ECM or CATCHER, to help you decide. They cost about $499 USD plus $300 range for core, Bob Wagner sells them, you can pm him for exact prices.

Thanks for the responses, it does sound like something i would like to get for my truck. Now i have 57,000 miles on my stock tranny, would that be an ok amount of miles? Its not weak at all and i was think of going with a valve body or a shift kit if i put in the catcher. and what kind of mileage are you guys getting ?
