Couldnt tell you how much pressure the transgo kit added but it made a NICE difference in how my torque converter holds. I believe my kit was the TFOD-diesel kit. Im pretty sure thats what it was called. You can get them on ebay for $59 buy it now. I got mine for $50 but that was a while back.

Stock 47RE was something like 53/55psi at idle. Transgo took mine to 103psi idle. (That's were the diesel shop that installed it set it to) Yeah, it shifts hard... I tried the lock up switch - too violent with my set up at full throttle. Removed it after 2 days. There's nothing worse than having the truck break on you when your showing off...

The shafts just won't take that kind of abuse. Full throttle with lockup 2nd to 3rd ripped the rear tires pretty bad - aka plenty of tire smoke. Definately the fast way to a new tranny. I understand that the ATS tranny uses a 'softened' shift to keep the tranny in place.

When racing I use the lockup switch to shift locked from 2nd to 3rd. I have tried to let it do a 1-2 locked shift, but that is just way to violent for me. I'm not as much worried about the trans, as I am the rest of the drive train. I don't have stock shafts (see sig), and I would not recommend anyone trying locked shifts (except 3-4, 2002 does that stock anyway), with stock shafts. To be honest though, the lockup switch with the DTT convertor, really doesn't make much of an E.T. difference(at least at my power level). It's fluid coupling is tight enough that the lockup doesn't help as much as it would with a "loose" convertor. It makes just a little over a tenth (.1) difference in E.T.

I can tell you with my set up that WOT lock up shifts are a big no no!! You are just asking for a grenaded tranny. I run a transgo kit with BD converter and it will shift well with lock up to about 1/2 throttle, after that it bangs way too hard. I mainly just use my 3 position lock up switch to manually keep the converter unlocked when towing in certain conditions - that is it. Once you get a good converter, you won't care about locking up the converter manually anymore.......good converters are tight enough that you won't lose too much power through them.
