Boost Numbers?
Boost Numbers?
What are some honest boost figures yall are seeing with an EZ and pretty much stock otherwise. I installed a boost gage today and the truck was making about 19. Then i took off the adjustable elbow that was on the truck when I bought it and put on the one that comes with the EZ. That picked her up to about 22 PSi at most under wot at like 2600 RPM. Is this normal. I was kinda expecting to make a little more that or is this what I should be expecting from a stock turbo with 160k miles on it.
Thanks for the help, Coop.

Your gonna need some more fuel if you want to make some more boost. I cant say I know how much my truck made with just an EZ as I had everything else in my sig done by the time I put the EZ on but with just a Juice with attitude I made ~24
I have ran my wastegate blocked for about 4 years never had a problem. I don't know how letting off the thottle quick would make a difference, big trucks ran turbos for decades with out wastegates at all. As far as I know if you push your turbo to hard it will start to push oil through the shaft seal, or if you push it to hard it will just explode under load not when you let off. With mine I see about 31-32 psi topps. I blocked it very easliy by using a piece of plastic folded over the hose with a small visegrip squeezing the hose shut.

It won't hurt your combo.
It's neat to watch the boost gauge but unless you're seeing quite a bit of exhaust smoke, it's likely you won't see an improvement in power.
You will be providing more air to the combustion process but if there's already enough air, you just be compressing more air and you know an air compressor needs power.
I use a test hill to check my stuff. Hit the bottom at the same speed and check the speedo at a certain spot...and the same beginning speed/ending spot speed for every test.
Try to test under similiar weather conditions.
