boost launches??

my question is what needs upgraded or what can handle boost launches, now im only talking like 10psi launches or something, i have a 727 auto with a billet input shaft but not output, do i need to get a billet vb, my truck should be pushing around 500hp, at least thats my goal, i haven't dynoed yet. so you guys think my mainly stock drivetrain can handle a couple of boost launches? thanks

I think you will be fine with 10lb launches. The only thing that may possibly be a problem is the output shaft, but as far as I know there isnt a billet one available.

I have a stock out put and 10psi is where i normally launch. I know they are different trannies but i think with the billet input you should be good to 10 psi

I would think with billet input you could launch with more pressure.

Drive train...transfer case...differential will all be fine. Only thing I don't like is holding a boost level for any length of time! Try to be second one to stage, when possible.
Only other concern, IMO, is holding it at or below 10 psi when everything else is going on. I would practice on the street, before I got to the track so you know what the engine feels and sounds like at 10 psi with brake on. It's real easy to end up at 15 or 20 psi when your watching the tree lights.

At 500 hp, I would be nervous at any higher than 10 psi. May work a few times... but your living close to the edge, IMHO. If done right at 10 psi, the difference in ET's between a 10 & 20 psi launch is not that much!

I agree. Try not to stay boosted for too long. I always prestage, and wait for the other guy to fully stage. Then I boost it up and creep forward to the full stage (around 10+psi) when the second amber lights I floor board it and let of the breaks at the last amber. This seems to work best for me.
