boost elbow and comp
tonight i will be installing my new comp. it has the boost elbow...but do i need it. right now the truck has a banks 14cm housing and 43PSI wastegate that i have yet to be able to open as my truck only hits 36 psi.
im still confused as to what this boost elbow with the comp is for. do i need to install it if i have the wastegate installed from banks

If you have an adjustable wastegate then you don't need the elbow. The elbow is intended for non adjustable stock wastegates that normally open at 20 psi......what the elbow does is it slows the flow of air to the actuator to the point where it becomes very unresponsive and this causes the WG to open very late.....so late, that even when the gate opens and gates 3 cylinders, the other 3 non gated cylinders already have more than enough fueling and boost to overun the 20 psi setting.

GB5.9-- how are you getting 43psi on the WG? Are you using an external WG or a manual boost control?
FYI-- stock turbo at 43psi is a grenade with the pin pulled.

im not seeing 43...im only seeing 35-36, its a banks big head wastegate on there set at 43...its never opened cuz ive never hit 43psi. i just didnt have the fuel to spin it there until i installed the comp today
on 5x5 the comp put me at 40-41 but egts were high so i kept out of it.
i am now in search of a turbo...and my motor work is done. find me a decent htb2-64/14, might be a bit laggy but it happens. i jsut dont wanna o-ring the head. get me a set-up that pushes 45psi and be done with it for a few years
