I am on the beach alot down in N. Carolina and pull trailers every now and then. i do not have an onboard air system that a bunch of vendors sell plus i really dont have the money for one, but i do have air tanks at my house i can fill up like the 5 and 10 gallon air tanks , i am looking at mounting one or two under the truck but cannot find a good place to, so if anyone has pics or has a good idea of where to mount one would be a great help
plus my bed is always full of stuff so cannot put one in the bed

under the doors on the frame or if you have stacks right under the bed. im putting mine were the spare tire should be.

 

I am with crabbelle, under the truck on the out side of the frame. If you are worried about ground clearance, wedge them up between the bed sides on the box.

 

Here is how I did it. I cut up a air compessor and re made it. I used a 2000 watt inverter under the seat and a 1 hp compressor. Your inverter will need to be way more then needed because starting these things is hard especially in the cold weather. Get a good inverter because they blow up easily if the compressor stalls.

 

It may not be what your looking for but I use the onboardair.com. Belt driven and real handy. I built a 4x8 inch tubing rear bumper with the ends tapering up for the air tank.
I bought just the brackets and pulley and found a compressor. I just bought another compressor off of ebay for 135 out of Ca. that is rebuilt. I think it's fits a volvo.

 

mine is a kleinn kit! mounted the compressor and tank on the outside of the passenger side fraimrail. its a 100% duty cycle compressor with a 2.5 gal tank i think! it works pretty good! I shingled my shed with it and it worked pretty good ha ha!

 

I have a pair of viair 380 c compressors mounted in im bed tool box, up and out of the way, and a 8.5 gallon tank under the rear bumber/ spare tire area, used eye bolts and flat bar steel to make straps out of. relays and pressure switch are in the tool box withthe compressors, an interupt on the trigger lead in the cab, and all battery cable cut custom runs the power. 3/8th shop line for the train horn, and quick connect chuck for the air tools.
