Billet Flywheel Necessary??

I already have a Goerend Triple disc and valve body sittin here waiting to be installed. Ive been thinkin, I might as well go ahead and do it right, if im gonna mess with it. So I plan on ordering a full built tranny from him w/ billet shafts soon. Do you think it is necessary to go ahead and get a billet flywheel? or is it only an issue when making BIIIIG power? I plan on making around 400 HP or so, 500 at the most, but that would be a long way away.

500 hp will rip that stocker in pieces. go ahead and do while the tranny is out. if not youll be kicking yourself in the ****. take the stocker out while its still in one piece and make a clock out of it.

Rjohnson Is making 550+ RWHP with a stocker flywheel......but he does not drag race a whole lot.....soo.....BUT for over 60,000+ miles with a 89% DTT Tranny.....no issues what so ever......if he has changed it...he has never told me!

if i were going to the trouble of doing a full upgrade with billet everything else i would go with the new flexplate and forget about it . cause you dont want a flexplate to be your fuse . if i were to leave anything to be a fuse it would be a out put shaft . cause yeah there have been guys run with over 500 on a stocker but my luck is i would be pulling heavy or racing one of those pesky ricers around here and shoot the flex plate threw the bell housing . but in the end its your dime that will make the call

The list of 2nd gen trucks with big HP (well over 600) that are NOT breaking these stock parts is long!

The list of 2nd gen trucks with big HP that have broken these stock parts (that have DTT trannys)is ONE. It was heavily abused.

The 3rd Gen trucks are a whole different scenario ... According to Stephen, at DTT.

RJ.. think the shifting difference between the DTT and the Goerend's will make a difference???

The weight of the truck and how you drive.. race... will make a difference..

The Goerend is supposed to shift softer than a DTT. However if you're throwing the cash into a full built tranny with billet from Dave, you might as well do the flexplate, too. Who knows, if you're already spending a few more grand from Dave, he'd probably give you a deal on the flexplate.
