bias-ply???
bias-ply???
I got what maybe a dumb question for you guys.
Im getting ready to lift my truck up for 38's and am about to buy my tires. Heres my question, has anyone put a large 36 or 38" bias ply tire on their truck? Whether it be Swamper TSL's, Buckshot Mudders, etc.....
If so, what was your experience? I realize they wont wear nearly as well on the street as the radials but Im just curious.
My truck will primarily be driven on the street.
Ill proly end up with the radials anyways, but, Im just curious. haha
Thanks guys
Jeff

I used to run 38.5x14.5x15 swamper sx's on my Ramcharger trail vehicle, they were great on the trail but absolutly terrible on the street. They would flatspot if parked more than a couple of hours, almost impossible to balance and wore out quickly(less than 8k miles). Once the got to half tread or less they would start bouncing like the tire was seperating. These experiences were with 2 full sets of tires, now I run Michelin 325/85R16 XML's, it's like driving a Caddy by comparison.
Ditto on that, I had a set on a old power wagon when I bought it, I looked for weeks to find out why I couldent drive straight down the road especially when hitting grooved pavement. I switched to radials and it was like a new truck. But, there tough to beat off road.
FWIW - I just got back from my free lift "check-up", tire rotation and balance at 4 Wheel Parts in Indy. A few weights were added, but that was it!
I have 20,000+ on the SSR's (10 ply radials) and they have performed great, both on and off-road.
