BHAFs

I'm thinking on going this route for my filter. Will one of these big ol filters allow as much air flow as the other aftermarket filters say like the AFEs?

Well

They seem to be a huge hit around here, so i guess it means something, NAPA has the really good ones, just make sure you get the little outterwear cover for them as well, (or am i thinking AFE hmmmm im confused). Well with a BHAF in place of the stock air box which dont allow enough air in to begin with, you will get more air into the turbo, its only common sence to me, air wont go thru a hard poorly engineered black box, BUT it will go thru a BIG HONKIN AIR FILTER .. No? he he he he he Im in the process of getting one myself.. Turbo whistle is wicked.... I dynoed with one, BELIEVE ME I KNOW.. oh and incause ur curious... 376/902 and looking for more... currently at 330/750 plus....

best of luck

Doubt a BHAF will flow as much as an AFE or Scotty 2 intake. They are a good filter especially if you are at stock or mildly modified hp levels. Price seems to vary a lot between brands and suppliers. You can the them CHEAP (around $29) from here:

If you don't like to change filters often, or clean re-useable ones, the BHAF is the filter for you. I used to run them from almost new. I just installed the Scotty 2, and the first 2 BHAF's lasted about 100,000 miles.

I used the Fleetguard one, then the Duralite. I don't believe there is any noticeable difference.
www.outerwears.com. Tell them what it is for, and they will tell you which one they need (they now know about the BHAF).

I had the Napa Bhaf, but thought it was getting too dirty. So I switched to a Scotty II - which for me I didnt like, then switched to the Pro Guard 7 Stage II Intake System, getting it from http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/index.html

What a much better system, and it seems the truck runs better too.

What happened to your Scotty 2??

Why did you not like it?? The only reason I ask is because just about everybody else loves theirs....

Scotty was way too loud for turbo whistle, and seemed like it was always a mess....all the oil and everything. I prefer a dry element filter, but thats just me

And I actually know the mileage went up after switching to the AFE, plus the truck seemed to just perform better.

Yes you are correct, I posted that wrong. It seemed like the scotty required more oil to work correctly, maybe I was all wrong about it.

The AFE is an oil type, but seems certainly less oil needy, hence more like a dry type.

Again thats just me, and could be wrong...LOL!
