best way to shine up diamond plate running boards??

Hey guys,
My running boards are only a few months old but they have already lost their lustre. What is the best way to shine them up. I just put some bed-rail covers on and the difference is huge.

Thanks

I use a product called Never-Dull on my Harley's chrome, and aluminum parts.
It's a cotton wadding impregnated with a polish .
Rub it in, let it haze. wipe it off, buff.
It's available at most auto parts chains.

Nevr Dull is good. Try Autosol, as well.
Mothers polish is pretty good for the final step.
george(who shines his vintage Airstream)

You got to be careful on these. Some are clear coated and you may ruin the coating.

I have this stuff at my cottage I got from Dehavilland when it closed up I wil try to find the name of it this stuff shines stuff like you wouldn't believe. I use it on my snowmobile tunnels. Anyone who knows what a new ski-doo tunnel looks like from factory I can make mine shine like chrome in about 1 hour.

The stuff I use to polish my wheels is called Meguiar's Scratch X. Stuff works great and is safe for clear coats.

My 2 cents worth...try the Mother's brand. It seems to do wonders on the stainless that I have. Takes a little elbow grease as well, but is worth it. You may want to try one of the kitchen bathroom electric scrubbers with a SOFT pad on it. Like I said, it does wonders on the rockers/nerf/bedcaps/rims that I have. They spray stuff on the roads here in MT that is suppoz to not rust or otherwise ruin your vehichles, but it works its way into everything. The Mother's is the best that I have found so far. Good luck! ;D

I don't mind the time and effort as long as they are nice and shiny again. I tried some Nu-Finish car wax that I had in the garage but it barely made a difference. I was thinking about polishing compound but I'm thinking that might make things worse. Thanks for all the replies.

Have used Never-Dull for years and it is good for almost any kind of polishing.
I see references to Elbow Grease. Where do you buy that and how big a container does it come in?
