Best tranny setup for my truck?

I have a 94 dodge 4x4 and was wondering what would be the best auto tranny for my truck. I was thinking about running the ATS HD tranny and TQ converter but that runs to 3250 befor tax. If im going to spend this kinda of money i want to know what is the best out there! If there are better ones out there but cost a little more i would pay it. Thanks!

I'm getting a DTT Transmission on the 25th! I will be getting the whole setup ;D My truck has over 103,xxx miles on a stock transmission I looked at ATS but I went with DTT because of the tech support and being close to DTT

Here is there web site.Diesel Transmission Technology

I got the suncoast tranny about three months ago and I am extremely happy with it. Great bunch to deal with also I would suggest you call all the major rebuilders and go with the one you feel the most comfortable with. The suncoast comes with the best warranty three years unlimited miles and horsepower.

Re:Best tranny setup for my truck?

I've had my ATS Stage IV for over a year now, I do a LOT of city driving, stop and go, I carry moderate loads, and it is the greatest thing I have ever done to my truck. It scoots off the line now, instead of roaring and going nowhere, which is what it was like when stock. It is like driving a different truck. And that TripleLok TC won't slip, I don't care how much H.P. or Torque you put through it. I am up in Santa Monica, if you want to get a ride in my truck to see for yourself.
I would go with ATS again in a heartbeat! They are great folks, they did everything they said they would, and more. I trust them.

I could not be any happier with my DTT, but I think ANYTHING is an improvment over stock. If I had to decide again, I would have to go DTT again.

My vote goes to DTT. But try and drive different trucks with the different tranny's you are considering. If possible try and drive trucks similiar to your in HP. Call the vendors and then make your choice.

Doug

My vote is for ATS. TCC holds firm under full throttle. Trans temp stays about 50 deg. F above ambient (measured in the pan).

I have the ATS converter and VB, my trans was done by Bellflower transmission, they are now a ATS dealer. The TC holds like crazy glue. I did a 0-60 run towing my 12,000# trailer up a slight incline onto the freeway and 20.94 seconds I don't think that is too bad for a total weight of 19,000+#
Bruce

Rockcrawler,
Give ATS a call @ 800 949 6002.

I street race and drag (track) race on a regular basis.
If you like firm positive shifts with the ability of locking your torque converter at will, this is the trans for you.

Recently at Thunder in Muncie, Mike Meinecke of ATS placed 4th in the 8000 lb open class sled pull. Above and beyond all other auto tranny competition (also above many manual trannies), he would have done even better if his Dana 70 would have held together!
