Best Brake

What is the best exhaust brake out there? What stops the best, lasts the longest and costs the least?

What have your experiences been with these? Thanks guys!

I have a Jake Brake brand exhaust brake on my rig. It works great. I've only had the rig for about 3 months now. Don't know how long the brake was on the rig before I bought it. But for now, it works great.

I have the Jacobs also. Works great, easy install, and a lot cheaper than a 4" inline brake. Only drawback is that since it bolts to the back of your stock housing, you're limited to what other aftermarket turbo setups you can use.
I got mine from Mechanicsville Dodge 1-804-559-4400

I love my Pacbrake! Especially the Pacbrake shifter switch. The only thing is you are limited to the size of turbine housing you can run since it is a direct-mount to the back of the turbine housing......other than that it works awesome.

I have a 4" straight pipe -from turbo back- how will this affect the mounting of a Jacobs or a Pacbrake? For now I'll run the stock turbo, so that shouldn't be a problem

Is an exhaust brake safe for use with the 47RE?
Thougth I saw somewhere that it wasn't recommended.

If your 4" down pipe bolts to the original turbine outlet elbow, it will bolt to any of the turbo mounted brakes. The exhaust brake simply replaces the elbow.

Don't mean to steal the post but this information may be helpful for some or all. I too am interested in purchasing an exhaust brake but I am looking for upgradability. If I want to upgrade to a turbo with a 4" outlet or even twins with a 5" outlet will any of these brakes still work? I mean is there one brake I can buy now and not have to replace later? Thanks for the help.

It is not a good idea to use an e brake on an auto without some form of lock up control that lets the converter lock up clutch engage when the e brake is engaged....other wise the converter will generate a tremedous amount of heat......there are several lock up control units on the market that allow the user to safely use an exhaust brake on an auto.

There is a remote mount brake, us gear I believe, you can get it for several different size pipe. 3" 4" 5" etc. This will allow you to use any turbo you want.

You will need a 4" inline brake that mounts down stream in your down pipe......or a 5" brake if you plan on running twins with a 5" system. This will allow to use ANY turbo because the turbo does not have anything to do with the e brake anymore.

I wouldn't buy a new brake except an inline, think B-D offers one also.
I know so many people who thought they would never change turbos but get stuck in a hard place because to do so they need a buy an expensive new brake just to change turbos.

Just doing a quick google search it looks like US Gear, Pac and B-D all offer an inline brake.
