Best box for MPG

Starting to drive the truck (01) more and more to work and am looking at getting a box to get some better mileage. Have heard of increases to about 25 mpg from 18 with the Edge. What should I be looking at?? Power would be nice when I might need it, but I want the economy. I never intend on changing the injectors or anything like that. Y'alls opinions are really appreciated. Oh yea, for all you Northern types, it is going to be in the mid 60's to low 70's down here for a while. Getting to where I actually want it to get cold for a while. bought a new hunting coat for no reason..

I would be surprised if any box would jump 7mpg. I have the Van Aaken box and picked up ~2mpg in town and ~3 on the highway if I really behave. Behaving is hard.

It is a big jump, the guy that installed the edge works with me and I have never had a reason to doubt him. But like you said, that is a big jump.

After a recent 2000 mile road trip I tested all the different settings on the Comp on each new tank of fuel and my best mileage was with the Comp turned off. I'm sure every truck has it's own quirks that make it a little different from the rest but this was my results.

that figures! i know i dont have any mpg increase with my comp or injectors because i am always in it. but i didnt buy my truck to get good fuel economy. if i would have wanted 30 mpg i would have gotten a car.

No disrespect to your friend but 7 mpg increase is unheard of...maybe that's on his overhead readout, which are notoriously inaccurate??
With your automatic, you won't see it! I only know of one auto that ever hits 20 mpg regularly. I live in a rural area and can get over 18 on a trip, with a 1,000 mile test for mileage resulting in 17.3 mpg.....no towing.

Best mileage may be no box at all....but the new Smarty ECM programmer coming soon. It reportedly has an economy setting! Read here...

the best box for a MPG increase is without a doubt a brick under the accelerator...

Reckon I will just not get a box. Like I said, don't need any more power, my trailer weighs around 8k and I can pull the tongue off of it. Don't care about tearing *** around town racing mini-vans either. thanks folks for the input!!!!

agree with the above.... the Smarty is supposed to have a fuel saver program but you'd have to reprogam the truck daily depending on what you anticipated for driving conditions.

I agree with RJ, the new Smarty has power and economy supposedly, and is adjustable on the fly. Most boxes I've seen either give same, or 1-2(maybe 3) avg mpg better, but definately not anywhere near 7(sounds like a salesmans pitch).
