Question Best air filter system? Noisiest?

Hi, I am looking to purchase a new air filter system for my truck. There are three that I am looking at, AFE, Airaid, Scotty II. WHich performs the best in terms of air flow, EGT reduction, and noise? I like the looks of the AFE and Airaid becasue of the open box, but don't want to sacrifice function just for looks. WHich is the noisiest inside the cab and out? Right now I have a K&N drop in inside the stock box. I am getting ready to install injectors and a max-flow kit, so I want to improve the intake also. Are they really that much better than what I have now? Thanks

Scotty is the best by far and also the noisiest.
Noise can be eliminated with a Turbo Air Guide (TAG)

what is "the hole"? and does it make it louder outside the truck, or just inside? (IE, is it drawing from the cowl?)

Ya it draws air in from the cowl. You have to cut a hole in the fire wall.

The noise might be cool for the short go, but I don't think I want to listen to it for 10 hours running at 2500 rpm's. So I'm with CTD_Neil, which is the best and still quite?

so I'm assuming "the hole" just makes it louder inside the cab? my HX40 is LOUD w/ my BHAF. wouldn't want it any louder inside, but would love to have it louder outside... don't think it's gonna happen w/o putting some big truck air cleaners outside the fenders!

The hole is there to draw fresh air into the filter from the cowl area.

I have a Scotty II w/hole, it is loud in the cab and most of the time my EGTs are fine so I just put a pice of plastic in my hole to block it. Just right for long hauls, and in two seconds I can pull it out and be sucking cooOOoOoOol air if I need/want it.

I don't mind it being loud, especially if I can just plug the hole.

I understand what the hole is for... I was just wondering if the Scotty made the turbo louder OUTSIDE the truck than a BHAF... don't care about inside. I would prefer my truck was dead silent inside, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go doing something silly like putting a muffler or silencer ring on it any time soon!

I'm with you Forrest, Would like it to be louder outside rather than inside. WHy is it the new powerstrokes are so loud outside?, those things are whistleing at idle, and really loud when their on it.

p.s. ghetto fuel plate....that's great.
