bearings going bad?

Yup, jack up the wheel and try to rock it from top to bottom. should have no play. If there is play, look to see whether its in the balljoints or the bearings.
You check the balljoints with a prybar. shouldnt move.

Look for pitting and scratches in the races and rollers, make sure the cages are still in good condition. If they look good, repack them and put them back in.

Hmm being as you have the hub off. Lay the rotor side on the ground and see if there is play on the 4 9/16 bolt side. My old hub I could feel the play in the bearings with the hub just sitting there. And also spin the hub around the bearing, see/listen to it for any noise or bad feeling. Im not sure how else you would check a sealed bearing.

me eather, it feels tuffer then i thought it should be to spin both, and one has a gritty sound, but i dont think theres any play ill check agen. trying to figer if its worth the 1200 for the kit to make those go away. it has rotors with it manual hubs and gets rid of that CAD thing. that meens 4 would be 4 every time. need new rotore thats y the hubs are off, x-mass has made getting them inposible thats why its still not back together.

The easiest and best way to check your bearings , is with them bolted to the knuckle.
With the truck jacked up , hold one hand on the coil spring , and spin the tire with the other hand. If you can feel the roughness in the coil , the bearing is going or gone.

im starting to think i should just get then kit and be done with these stuped things, long run it should save me money with the added milage and the fact i wont be getting rid of this truck for a long time.
