Banks Smartlock or shiftkit????
Banks Smartlock or shiftkit????
Which would be better?? I am looking at uping line pressure in the stock tranny. I like the sounds of the Smartlock better because I could install in myself.
I'm planning on getting both. The Smartlock will help slow the truck down when using the exhaust brake by activating the torque converter's lockup clutch. This increases line pressure to keep the torque converter from slipping and helps keep the trans cooler. I'm still researching the shift kits to determine which one to get (Banks also makes one to go with their Billet Torque Converter) -- they will help the shifting while speeding up. Unless I'm way off base, one helps with getting moving, the other helps with stopping.

Sorry for the delay in answering your question -- I called Banks to make sure I was giving you the correct information...
TheSmartLock Transmission Controller works with the Banks Brake and is activated ONLY during decellerations. If you are looking for added line pressure during acceleration, then you don't want the SmartLock.
