Auto to manual trade?

Didn't know where to post this one.... I thought I would throw this out there and see. Is there anyone in the tri-state area that might want to swap their manual transmission set-up for my auto set-up? My auto has 20,000 on a rebuild, fluid is new looking, and it functions flawless. I'm going to do a swap and thought I would start with this. maybe there is someone out there that doesn't like shifting gears..

Needs to be the same ecm.
Take manual stuff out.
Take auto stuff out.
Trade and install in reverse order.

I hear the ecm in the most important part. The rest of the stuff isnt that bad.

You will need to swap all the parts.
Trans, transfer case, driveshafts, steering colum, pedals, bellhousing, and pcm.

Thanks, Would you have to swap the wiring harness? I bet the pcm would also need swapped. Sorry didn't notice that pcm was on the list till after I posted.

auto to manual doesn't need any electrial swap. Just 3 wires need to be touched (nuetral safety wire, and the 2 back up light wires) and ur good to go. If u dont want to swap transfer cases, u can just buy a 29 spline input shaft for ur t-case and swap it in (isn't hard to do) ~$200.

The rest is basic stuff like trans, clutch, flywheel, flywheel bolts, 5spd trans mount, shift boot, shifter, shorten/lengthen driveshafts, u can do it in a weekend or less if u have help.

Box5 is 100% correct. Although, if you go from manual to auto...you need to swap the steering column out.. and regardless of the swap... the driveshafts are about 6" difference and they need to be swapped.

wicked500R where excactly is the tri-state area? I may be interested in a swap to auto. I would actually prefer an auto, but stick is what I got.......

I;ve got a pretty fresh South Bend ceramic 3600 dual disk, upgraded input shaft obviously, short shift kit in the 4500, repaired 5th gear nut.

If you're reasonably close, maybe a swap plus cash if you want the performance stuff.

The tri-state area would be... New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and eastern PA.

Ya, thats a bit on the far side...........I would be interested in an auto trade with someone sometime.

I like the short shift. it really tightens up the pattern. it almost felt more notchy right off the bat. but smoothed out after a while.

Wicked,

I'd be willing to talk about it also. Mine is a '95 also and started life as an auto so we can keep our PCMs.

I also have a new top cover to adapt to newer shifter so a short shift can be installed. Also have an aftermarket clutch but not south bend.

I'm in western PA.

Shoot, thats the first time I've heard that......I guess I'll be calling on that donor truck @ my buddies work......I've been wanting to do that since before I sighned the papers on my truck!!! Price was right for a nice auto so I got it anyways.

Side note: you guys in the states are lucky to be able to find '98 12 valve 5 speeds for so cheap down there.......whenever a low km truck like that shows up here they usually want Big$$$$$$$ for it. I mean like $$30,000 for the quad cab short boxes!!
