Any one have the BD steering box support brackets??

I have heard that a kit is available from BD perormance that is supposed to keep the truck from wandering all over the road. It is a bracket that stiffens up the frame rails where the steering box is mounted to and it doesn't let it "give" resulting in tighter steering. Anyone know about this or currently running this on their truck?

I have the stabilizer kit. It's been on for years - no twist. I also tightened up my gearbox which made a huge difference. I would actually describe my steering as tight. It takes a long time to get there. We (my dad or me) have probably replaced everything under that front end. Assuming all the ball joints and tie rod ends are good either one of those will really help, but both will better.

BD's unit may be made by Solid Steel? (don't know cause haven't seen it). BD does relabel many other mfg's stuff.

My Solid Steel Steering Stabilizer makes a big difference. Never liked the weak support for the Dodge steering box so when the DSS, from Solid Steel, hit the market, I jumped on it (July, 2003 and 16,000 total miles). What amazed me was a noticable difference in steering control at that low mileage! A "must have", IMO, for oversized tires!
At 160,000 miles my steering is tight and my steering box has never acted up or needed replacing...... like many!

The CTD definately needs extra support in that area...go for it; whichever one you choose!

Rowland, my wife wants a word with you. You cost me money everytime I talk to you or read one of your posts.

~Off looking at the Solid Steel Steering Stabilizer or the Lazarsmith equivalent Rob

Been running the (originally called Darins steering stabilizer) from Solid steel since I bought the truck over 4 years ago. I would suggest it to anyone who is willing the spend the little bit of dough for better steering. That and the 3rd gen track bar kit have made the front end the least of my worries. Which is nice.

Its because they copied DSS's design.

I have installed all three brands: DSS, BD, and attempted to install a PSC, but it didn't fit worth a darn and they use very light weight steel and lesser quality welds, so a DSS on that guys' truck instead.

I like the DSS, they are the heaviest steel of all of them.
BD now makes their own, and fits perfect and works flawless.

They do look similar but these are definately our own. We are using a higher quality bearing and have a tough powdercoated finish. They are a direct bolt on that takes less than a 1/2 hour.

Guys, the original poster CLEARLY asks a question abut a specific product, he did not ask for links to other manufacturers products. Please help keep the thread on topic.

It's no different than when a certain clutch company copied the Southbend design, right?

I remember reading about that some time ago.

Sure looks like my DSS link. Yes it will fix your wandering, yes it helps. If your gearbox (power steeringbox) is worn out, this will not fix that problem. What does BD do for the sway bar end links? This will add more preload onto the sway bar.
