When I was at Fall Brawl I spoke with JetPilot, and he recommended the PDR HX40 as the next turbo I should get. Although you have bigger sticks than I do, it should work for you. Call Doug at Performance Diesel Warehouse in PA.

The customer service of htt is worth the 300 alone IMO.

shoe,

To help give guidance on turbos can you tell us how you use your truck? Do you tow, if so how heavy and at what elevations? Are you happy with your mods now or do you plan on changing them, if so how?

Turbos like injectors need to be part of an overall package. The PDR-40 is a great turbo for someone who is running mods like Tiny, but the comp box and stage 5 jammers are going to run hot with it. Also its not the toughest turbo in the world so if you are one to drive hard there are better choices out there. HTT is making some great turbos as well as the new Phat Shaft 62 turbo would work well for you.

Let us know where you are headed with your truck and we can give good advice.

Doug

Thanks for the reply. I do not do much towing if anything just a small trailer, I live in florida and drive my truck daily as if I drive it hard I like to get on it once and a while and would like to take it to the track one day to see what all my hard earned money has done to it. I am happy with the mods so far and with a bigger turbo I think I will leave it at that level for a while. but like you all say once you get started you can not stop with the mods and I only want to buy one.

shoe,

I would lean towards the phat shat 62 for your truck, this is a great turbo that will support between 300-550 HP. The turbo has good bottum end and is very tough. If you are sold on HTT I would recommend the HTB2 with the 14 housing. HTT makes good turbos as well I just like the results we are having with the phat shaft turbos.

shoe,

The Phat Shaft is not a smoking diesel turbo they are a vendor.... The phat shaft is made by Industrial Injection. You can get a good description on HP ratings of the Phat Shaft turbos here: http://www.performancedieselwarehouse.com/953154.html Also the Phat Shaft turbos are not based on a Holset turbo they area hybrid of a Schwitzer turbo.

shoe,

I would estimate your HP at 415-435. If you upgrade your turbo you should be somewhere between 450-475. Upgrading a turbo is not as easy as just putting on a new wheel, give me a call @ 717-557-7060 and I can fill you in...... But basically you should pick the turbo that is right for the application.
