Amsoil BHAF

I did the same thing except that I just let the filter lay in the bottom of the stock filter housing.
Here's a picture of my 4091 mounted up in the heat shield I made. (from a template found online)
I supported the flange end by making a cradle out of a half=round piece of 5" exhaust tube. The other end is supported by a piece of flat bar with a hole in it for the stud in the end of the filter.
I shoved a piece of 4" exhaust tube inside the neck of the filter. It's a tight squeeze, but it fits. This way, the hose clamp for the intake tube has a solid fixture to clamp down on, rather than just the soft rubber of the filter.
Putting the intake hose on was the exact same as with a normal BHAF.
This Amsoil filter makes the turbo much louder than the regular paper BHAF. I ALMOST put my silencer ring back in after I installed this filter.

When I comes to cleaning, I just get a bucket full of water mixed with some Oxi-Clean and let the filter soak a bit. Then agitate it around the bucket. You can rinse from the inside out to push the dirt back out of the filter media.
Haven't done it with this filter yet, but had good results with my previous AFE cone filter. Ended up clean as new.

Mine was 92 bucks. It will supposedly last 3 yrs. I believe I read somewhere (maybe here) that you could take a leave blower, shove it into the flange and it would blow much of the dirt out. Doing this over a 3 yr period should keep it pretty clean. Heck I think I went 2 yrs before cleaning my K&N. Doh!!

Would be interesting to see some back to back dyno data on this filter setup. I did that with the BHAF and the results we a net LOSS of 4-8 RWHP over the stock airbox.

JetP, what horsepower level did you see the hp reduction with the BHAF? There are several good alternatives now to the BHAF, when I found it back in 01 we didn't have the options available today.
I still run one in dusty conditions due excellent filtration and the direct filter to turbo inlet hose connection, no chance for a leaky connection (gotta run a stiffener to guarantee a positive connection).
Thanks, RR

I hear that there is a place near me that will do 3 runs for 60 bucks.
