airtex fuel pump installation

Hello all:
Has any one had any experience installing a airtex E7153 supply pump? I am installing this pump on a 1999 built 10/98 24v 5 speed. The inlet fitting comes straight out the back of pump,it almost hits the firewall, let alone installing the quick connect. Any ideas?

I put one in for my wife's uncle. Had to bend that line a little. No biggie. Wait.......I think I reused the old fitting off of the old pump. I still had to bend it a little though, IIRC.

Thanks for reply.
I might be calling this by the wrong number. The number on the box is (Delphi) FP953,The instruction sheet reads (E7153 diesel fuel pump replacement instructions) maybe E7153 is the old pump. The new pump uses the original outlet fittings but the inlet is a straight brass quick connect fitting connected to the pump by what looks like special threads with a O ring seal. The end of the pump is nylon. The new pump extends to the fire wall a good 1.5 to 2 in further than the original.

Yes the airtex E7153 pump can be installed (just). Holding 19psi. check engine light is on. Could different current draw of new pump cause ecm to set CEL?
Engine runs fine.

Shouldn't, no. The ecm doesn't monitor the lift fuel pump on the 2nd gens.
