Air Filters....

Alright guys I know Im but, I was looking at some Air filters today, cause I wanted to upgrade from my BHAF, and I thought about some brands, the Scott, the Quad, the AFE and then AIRAID, and after further review, i want to know if the airaid is even worth looking at, and out of all of them what you prefer, or feel would be the best for my truck. Keep in mind I live in AZ on a farm with lots of dust so....

Yes, the AEM "dry BHAF" is another option. And, you can buy just the filter if u dont want the complete intake.

Northslope, have you ordered one??

I cant say how the Scotty 2 performs in heavy dust but I would think it would be pretty good too.

You can get the AFE Pro Guard 7 in a replacement filter as well, but the Stage 1 or Stage 2 intake systems are the way to go. Much better air flow and the best filter on the market. Try it you'll like it!

Yep got it sittin in a box about 2 feet away, gonna build an air box for it first kinda like got...DIESEL's only outa stainless sheetmetal instead of a battery box. The filter pic in your link is identical to the one I got. Thanks again for the tip!!!!!!!!

It's a 4" inlet 9" long basically same dimensions as the K&N cone

Filter# 21-2059dk
cleaning kit# 21-110

I would say that with cowl intake of the SA II, you may get less dust ingestion as you are not taking so much stirred up dust from under the hood. I found my BHAF got more dirt on it from just the road dust under the hood than anything else. I know the cover on my SAII is pretty dirty most of the time, but the filter isn't that bad.

plus with a bhaf you're sucking hot under hood air (fine in winter) unless it's got an air box drawing cold outside air

Cold air box update.............................

Well I pulled the BHAF (wix #42790) and installed my AEM 9"x4" (#21-2059dk) cone dryflow filter in my "cold air" box (group 27 battery box) I lost ~135 degrees cruising highway speed on the egt's. Floored with the o/d on from about 55 will get me around 1100 degrees as opposed to the 1300 before this mod. I will eventually buld a nice box out of aluminum sheet or stainless sheet when $ and time permits.
