Aftermarket Injectors and Oil Intervals

After putting in aftermarket injectors, what mileage are you guys changing the oil? Since synthetic and dino intervals differ, lets just keep it towards the dino oils. I currently run Delo 400 15w40 with the Stratapore, I have brought my intervals down to every 3k miles since the oil is VERY black at this point due to the POD's. Also, any owners that are running bigger injectors and doing an oil analysis feel free to post your results of the analysis with the bigger injectors.

Re:Aftermarket Injectors and Oil Intervals

OBR...I don't believe in extended oil intervals, and run the same oil as you do Chevron Delo 15-40. I'm running Don M's, EDM injectors, and Howels anti -gel injector cleaner in my fuel. Although, I have not taken an oil analysis, as I change my oil every 5-7000miles, including fuel and oil filters. Don't worry if the oil is black, that's normal for the high detergent additives in Delo...You know that the additives are working. It feel the above intervals are adequate. Funny how it blackens sooner than the Rotella did.

Re:Aftermarket Injectors and Oil Intervals

the black is soot in suspension. I'm not a real fan of extended drain intervals either, but with a fueling box and/or injectors I'd be doing an oil analysis to make sure you should'nt shorten your drain interval. in particular, if the additive package in Delo 400 is still good, then yea, you'l see black. But the risk is that you might take the oil beyond its ability to keep the soot in suspension. oil labs are pretty good at detecting the onset of suspension loss. I'm just conservative about things like this, but if it were me, I'd spend the money on a few analyses to get a feel for the right drain interval, and then stick to it.

When I change injectors, they look almost new, and are very clean. As far as smoke, with my fueling, my truck did not stop smoking.. ..I still can turn day into nite, but maybe not as long?? I'm hooked on this stuff and plan on using as long as the results continue, or unless someone can convience me there is something better. The color looks just like (ssip), spelled backwards. I have not tried "meaner power cleaner", however, it maybe simular stuff.

Steve

Re:Aftermarket Injectors and Oil Intervals

I run Delo as well and change oil between 3500-4000 miles. It's cheap insurance. I also uses Howes diesel treat and "MPK" in every tank!

Re:Aftermarket Injectors and Oil Intervals

Thanks Heber, I just found the Howes product you were talking about. And its cheaper than the Meaner Power Cleaner that I have been running. We will see what results I get with it compared to the MPK. Thanks
