'99 lock-up switch. No jumper on relay?

I just put a lock-up switch on my 99 . I also removed the trans relay and put in a jumper wire. It worked but I got a check engine light, code:manufacturer trans control..

I am guessing you cant jumper wire were the relay was on a '99. Is this true for you post '98 truck owners. The tech sheet I read also said it wouldnt work.

I test drove and fliped the lock up shift as I started in first . It locked in second but the shifts were ruff almost like a double shift into 2nd and 3rd. Didnt feel like it was good for the trans. I was only maybe 1/4 trottle if that.

The switch worked good comeing down a grade with foot off the trottle

Whats the scoop on '99 and later trucks and the lock up switch?

Rick

I tryed putting the relay back in and then just flipped the switch with the truck running in drive and sure enough check engine light went on again. Ahhh Bullpucky !
