I have it set at 16 degress now. Egts are a little hot for me. How much timing can I go before things start to get ugly?

completely streetable I run mine in the mid 20's for pulls and what not... I'd rather leave it there than where ive got it now, (18*) but im scared of the BIG HG!!! no studs or rings.

I run mine at 26* with a 887 pump on my 94 Dodge and it starts great even in the dead of winter when it gets down to 0* around here. I have lost a little bottom end but it more than makes up for it in the top end. I do a lot of sled pulling and I tow a 30' GN at least once a week and the only problems I have is High EGTs but I also have some really big injectors in it now and a stock turbo.

10 was horrible, 17 felt decent, 28 felt better, at 32 it starts getting low RPM rattles like a powerstroke and starts harder in 100F weather.

But you don't have a 913 pump

What are the differences between the 887 and the 913 pumps. Because I have one of both sitting in my shop.

It depends on who you talk too...some will say the 887 is better, some the 913. My pump guy likes the 913, so that's what I bought. I know it has a good cam, and has "some" dynamic timing.

You have to know Brandon...but yes, it's driveable! Startable, maybe not all the time, but driveable, sure

BTW, when I swap my 913 onto the 98 I'm setting the timing at 20, and going from there Not much towing for this truck

It's perfectly fine at 32. Once it gets colder than 75F at night, it gets harder to start after setting for a few hours.
