71 mm or 74 mm turbine wheel

What a new turbo been looking at industrial injection. Want to buy the right turbo for my truck already have HTT 64/65/14 and 150 HP sticks. Not really impressed with the turbo that I have want a more efficient turbo. I don't tow with this truck, I'm going to stick with a 64 compressor what size turbine do y'all suggest I use to make my truck come alive with the 150 Sticks?

use your current turbo over a K31 for a towing set or drop a S400 under it. Done.

I have a 64/71/16SS with my sticks, and I have no problems spooling or daily driving. Different gen's, I know...

74 might be too big...

Bigmack, Whats the bad about your 64/65/14. Ive been seriously considering that size with 110 sticks and whats in my sig below.. What about that turbo are you not impressed with? Is it too small for your fueling ya think?

Madhat, how do you spool a 71cm snail?????? If you read his sig, it's a 16cm housing and his truck doen't count because it's a 3rd gen.

Im running a Silver64 (64/74/14) from II.
It is one bad turbo. It will start to spool at 1600 and at 1750 its at 55psi.
It pulls like a freight train all the way to defuel.

Only problem is it sucks for towing. When I was towing my 7k camper, I had ZERO problems with it.
The new camper is close to double the weight and its not that great.

BTW, this is on my 12 valve.
On you 24 it will be alot better due to how much better your head flows.

If your interested, I will be selling it probably this week.
Its about a year old, with aroun 9000 miles on it.

Never sledpulled or drag raced. My truck is a daily driver.

The VP trucks suck for spooling compared to 12 valves or CR trucks.

The 71mm version would be as big as I would go, but low end performance will suffer.

Again. for a do it all and about the same money, compounds is an easy choice.

Huh,
I've always heard they spooled better, due to having adjustability and a much better flowing head than a 12 valve.

Compressor is too big and/or the turbine is too small. The turbine is clipped to reduce surging but that means the turbine can't move as much air at full boost.

So should I drop to the more common 62/65/14? or 12? still with 110 sticks?

My truck is a dd and tows a few times a week but rarely ever more then 5k +- a bit.
Also I plow snow, and wanna stay in check on the 1/4 m.
Im stickin with II PS's just wanna be sure to get the right size.

A 62/71/14 II SPS, would be a nice turbo for your setup.

A 65 turbine wheel is way to small IMO.

Also call Engineered Diesel. They are building me a 62/68/14. They have a new compressor wheel they cal a Super62, it suppossed to flow like a 64 wheel. According to them the 68 wheel flows more exhaust than a 71 wheel.
They are also doing their S300 based race cover and their spring wastegate actuator rod.
Its suppossed to flow like a 64, but spool like a 62.

One of their customers truck, is putting 575rwhp with this turbo.

Plus it will be a killer secondary for the winter twin project.

Give them a call their prices blow HTT and II prices out of the water.

They are EXTREMLY busy so, getting ahold of them isnt the easiest.
