6 speed ocnversion troubles
i pulled out the 5 speed this weekend, and removed the 13.25 con fe conversion. i have been hoarding all the parts i needed to do the 6 speed swap. i picked up a 2002 2wd 5600, a southbend dual disk clutch. i went to standard and picked up a 4x4 tail housing for the 6 speed. i bolt the tail housing up with a new seal and went to pick up the transfere case. then i noticed the spline differance. the 6 speed has a 1 5/8th out put and the 5 speed had a 1 1/2" output. so my question is what needs to be changed to make all this work out. a new input for the t case or a new output on the tranny?

nope, the ford 273 [29 spline ford] input will not fit[had her check that out also], i just spent lunch over at standard trasmission. i need to chage out the main shaft in the tranny. you must use a 4x4 nv5600 to replace a 4x4 nv4500. the 2wd 5600 has a 31 spline output, the 4x4 tranny has a 29 spline output. i was told the 2wd and the 4wd tanny's interchanged from a guy that was selling a 5600, he was wrong. i had allready purchased the 4x4 tail housing. so now i get to pull the whole thing apart and swap the mainshaft.
what really bugs me is that the 2wd shaft is larger in diameter than the 4x4 main shaft. mike
