#6 is more prone to melting because it is farthest away from the water pump, and it gets the least air.
Some people have also had the oil colling nozzels break or get clogged and that will also cause a piston to melt but it can happen in any cylinder not just #6

the nozzels aren't somthing I would worry about, if it happnes it happens but there ane no steps to prevent it. It is also really rare. Out off the 100's of truck ive been around only 1 has had it happen.
get an egt guage and you wont have to worry about melting #6 (1200* max sustained temps)
