5in. exhaust
5in. exhaust
I just called Rip and inquired about his 5in. straight system. He said it has a really loud drone to it.I wanted a really loud truck but don't want the drone to be unbearable.I will be towing a good bit too so that will just make the drone louder. Is anyone running a 5in. straight system that can tell me about drone? If it sounds like too much I will go with 4in straight.I kinda want 5 though.?????????
If you want to get rid of the drone on the 5", install a 5" resonator right before the muffler on the 5" kit.
This will nix the drone.
I have a 5" exhaust and this worked perfect to quell the unbearable drone that accompanied the system.
Rip can hook you up with the right parts.

Strapping a chunk of steel to the exhaust pipe.
Start by strapping it about where the muffler and resonator would have been on the stocker,
go for a drive, then if the drone continues, slide the angle iron back a bit and try again.
Basically changes the structure of the pipe moving the resonating frequency to higher or lower RPM so it doesn't bug you on those long trips.

What is a drone? I have a 5" I loved the sound driving around town but when I hooked up the 5er it was way too loud, you couldn't carry on a conversation without almost shouting, I installed a muffler and it's much better under load.
