500 hp auto

Talked with a buddy of mine who is a former over valved CTD owner (53 block got him) and he says no way an auto truck will make 500 at the wheels. Anybody know better?

an auto can make just as much as an H.O. with the proper transmissions upgrades.... I know of a 3rd gen auto making over 600 rwhp on stock sticks....

Definitely has been done, lots of times.

Doug Smith's old truck did 886rwhp through a DTT Auto, and that's been a little while ago.

I think my truck is over 500 to the wheels, but i won't say since i haven't had it on the dyno, only at the track.

Ask him why it wouldnt. When the TC is locked it is just like a clutch that is let out, and engaged. No slipping. I think the same motor would make the same HP behind either one.

a professionally built auto is better than a standard anyday and can handle more power as long as u maintain it

I made over 500 a few years ago. 500 is nothing for todays trucks.
