500 bucks what to do?

i am looking to put some fun money into my truck. i have 500 or so to spend. i am thinking. intake (scotty II), 3k springs, and #10 fuel plate. is this a good route? woudl you replace intake with exhaust? or do exhaust, intake and maybe springs or fuel plate? i kinda dont want to pass up the 100 dollar special on the springs. some one point me in the best direction.
thanks

DEFINATELY get the springs!!

I would get a #10 plate if your going to buy a plate.

The Scotty II is the ONLY air system I will consider, I got 175* INSTANT reduction with the cowl hole on my previous truck with #10 plate and bosch 300 injectors. I will DEFINATELY have one on this truck soon.

You don't have to do Exh. and Air at the same time....and from what I'v heard you won't get much EGT reduction either. If your not straight piped I would do that, but I wouldn't waste the $$ on a system just yet.

Once you get on down the line with Injectors and a plate then think about exhaust.

One thing though is your truck a 5spd or auto, because if you do the 10 plate you might want to start putting $$ back for either a clutch or tranny upgrades. However it might take a long time to do any significant damage, everything depends on where you run the plate and what type of driver you are.

Hope this has helped.

Skip the Scotty for now and get at least a pyro so you can keep an eye on exhaust temps. If your truck is a 5 speed, go with a #11 plate or you'll be looking at a clutch real soon. The plate and GSK will keep you smiling for a long time. It'll be like driving a new truck.

DOH! didn't even think about gauges......just assumed he had them already.

Yes gauges are the ABSOLUTE first!! I highly recommend auto meter's, they are reasonably priced and I was able to order mine through my local Car Quest auto parts store! NO SHIPPING CHARGE!

ok thanks so far, its an auto but it just got a rebulid last month, so i figure it will last till i can buy an ats. ok so i dont have gagues yet. sounds like that should be first on the list. i am guessing a 3 pod with pyro, boost, and tranny temp? i am kinda thinking thats what i should do. i can get that for 300 shipped. does that sound good? so now on to the fun stuff. the springs are going to happen, they are 100. so that leaves me another 100. is the plate a must with the springs? of so i will do that. or is a scotty a better spent 200? i like the idea of any better fuel economy. thanks for the opnions and keep um comin. i gotta learn some how!

1. Gauges
2. Plate
3. Transmission
4. Intake/Exhaust & Turbo
5. Injectors
6. Valet Switch
7. GSK
8. Laser Cut DV
If I had a 12V, I would probably add things in this order.

I would do Gauges first for sure. Tranny Temp is not a must, but is nice, and $300 sounds like a decent deal. I would DEFINATLEY get a GSK! They dont really add power, so therefore they are not much harder if at all on the tranny, but, you will think you got another 50hp out of it! The truck is just so much more driveable. Im not sure how they would react on a stock truck, but with my fuel plate, and GSK, it will GO . I would also reccomend a #10 plate for you. I have a #5, but my EGT's are too hot, and my converter is slipping. I plan to fix both those really soon, but the #10 should be a milder plate, and you can play with it to get the power you want, and with both that, and a GSK, you will think you have bought a new truck! I would reccomend an air filter, but if you ask me the cold air intake kits are overpriced. I bought a Cone K&N filter at autozone for $50(many are against K&N, but i have never found any dirt/oil in the intake tube), and made my own heat shield out of stainless steel. Im sure a Scotty might be a hair better, but i dont see the price difference bieng worth it. Or you could order an AFE filter, and do the same thing i did. Just pull the stock airbox, and clamp onto the rubber piece on the end of the filter. Also, i would no doubt straight pipe it. Cut the cat, and muffler of yourself and drive to a local shop, and have them weld in a piece of pipe, or do it yourself if you have the stuff. I would go with a fuel plate over an air filter though, unless you want to buy both, because as long as you have a pyro, you can watch the temp's, and do some research on which air filter you want. Good luck. You will LOVE the extra power/driveability!

500 bucks

stone,
After you spend this wad , start saving for a triple disc converter. If you didn't get that VB with thtrans upgrade, save for that as well. Getting the power to the ground is what you will accomplish.
We all need to get er down the highway of life.
After that start, enjoy your truck while dreaming of the next upgrade.

Stone-

This is just my 2 cents, Why not spend $50.00 and get a BHAF and put it on without a heatshield. A BHAF will stay in place with no HS and its only $50.00. That way you will have a great flowing intake dirt cheap. RATTLINRAM has had his BHAF with no HS for a long time and he has a picture in his photo gallery. I think its worth moveing it up to the do it "now" list and take it out of the "then" list.

Yes, a BHAF is also a good filter, for pretty cheap, and the filtration is supposedly VERY good. Here are some part #'s from this site :

Gauges first then intake and exhaust don't increase fuel until you have monitoring ability and you can uncork the truck via intake and exhaust mods

What about maybe having someone up his line pressure in his trans for him to help save the trans for now, go with the gov. springs and the BHAF, maybe slide the fuel plate and then maybe some 215 injectors. This would be a cheap hp. up without going wild and tearing up the trans. With him already having a rebuilt trans it would be bad to just tear it up. Maybe even a bigger injector but I'm not familier with the small pump and how it reacts to injectors. Maybe just a pyro for now you and a turbo upgrade like HTT stage 3 is real reasonably upgrade. It really isn't high if you watch how you do you're upgrade's. His tranny is the major holdup, if you could find a core to rebuild you can always rebuild it at the same price and sell you're good one to hold down the price. I'm running a single disk billet convertor and having good luck with it. I had a local hot rod trans shop rebuild mine, cost in and out of the door was under 2200 with all upgrades. You can grind the plate when ready yourself at a cost of 0 to you. I made a valet switch on mine with a simple on/off air toggle switch cost of around 10$. You can also change wastegate setting real easy with a spring or bleed off. Be real careful, this stuff is just like drugs when you start!
