5" Single Stack on a Shortbed?
5" Single Stack on a Shortbed?
I am thinking about putting a 5" single stack on my quadcab shortbed, just put on an elbow and run it straight up, I looked at it tonight, and the truck has a crossmember right in the way of where the stack would go. Can somebody maybe shoot some pics of how they did theirs or got around the crossmember? Or just tell me? Thanks

You'll need three elbows. One to turn it up from the exhaust from under the bed, one to turn it to the corner of the bed, and one to turn it straight up. Most people then put a bracket on the stack and attach it so the stack doesn't more or vibrate.
My best friend has a 5" single straight-cut on his SBQC, I put it on for him and all I did was put a 5" 90* elbow under the truck and come straight up and secure it. I did it just like mine if you look at my pics, and both of ours are very stout, very minimal flex.
Are you talking about the stamped sheet metal suport channel on the end of the bed? You can drill or cut right threw that. I havent found a weakness problems with any of the trucks we did that to. A 5 1/2 inch or 6 inch hole saw is cleanest way to make the hole and it will cut right threw that.

Quick question...And be honest, How loud is the exhaust resonation in the cab of the truck with a stack sitting right by your back glass?
Please no answers of, well its not too loud for me.

Depends on alot of things, single turbo or two? Are you running a muffler? Is the rest of your exhaust 4" or 5"?
I ran a 4" straight exhaust (no muffler) with a HX40 and dual 5" turnouts and it was loud. Resonance at highway speed around 70 was bad. Added a muffler and the resonance went away but it was still very loud. It is fun at first but its gets old. Then I went to twins and 5" exhaust with a muffler and it was too quiet. So I removed the muffler and it is just right. Yesterday I switched from dual 5" turnouts to a single 6" miter and so far I haven't noticed a whole lot of difference. Maybe just a touch louder, no resonance though. How well you support the exhaust has an effect too...
