4th gear low range or 2nd gear hi range?

i cant decide which gear to pull sled in...i pulled last weekend in 3rd gear low range and got 280ft....but the video didnt show much wheel speed at all. I have 285/75/16s and 3.54 gears. Just curious if i could drop down to about a 30 to 31 inch tire and be able to pull in 4th low

I'm not really seeing enough power to try 4th on the low side... what RPM did you hold on 3rd low side?

I just snuffed mine 3 weeks back attempting 4th low on a heavy sled. I'm at 611hp+. I run 2nd high usually.

held right at 3400 down the track. the gov springs need about 2-3 clicks more a piece i think. just did the math and if i run a 31 in. tire and use 2nd in high range ill be runnin right at 28 mph down the track so thats prob the route ill go.

I'm going to say your best bet is going to be 2nd on the high side. I wouldn't go messing with your tires just yet unless you have a mounted set handy or feel like dumping some cash... your 3.55's aren't really ideal for sled pulling if you were to get serious about it anyhow.

FYI, we run 4th low side on a 900+rwhp sled truck...
