Cool 4k GSk adj. tight, does that cause more fueling at idle?? -smoke

Hi

ok we installed the 4k gsk, but it would idle way to fast, then we turned the idle screw down a lot, until it idles below 1000 rpm...

but the truck smokes a lot at cold start up, not blue, not very white, its kinda dark, (black-brown)... has that sumthin 2 do with the gsk being adjusted too thight??? i mean too much fuel at idle??
----
and then we have another truck with a 215 pump, manual, which smokes black, while letting it pull, (at taking off, with the manual). but not touching the pedal at all... seems like it fuels too much when not even pressing the pedal!

might that be due to the GSK adjusted too tight????

thanks a lot for the help in advance felas

what was the measurement on the actual

springs that you went by? and what plate are you running? I tightened down mine to just under .60 and it worked fine, even with the 100 plate, i have no issues with smoke unless i romp it. My truck would idle at 500 or so when i was done tightening and then i used idle screw to get it where i like it, no further issues, and smoke is more managable than I thought it would be.

How far is the starwheel? where is the plate positioned? timing? those are all factors. Just FYI, i have my starwheel full forward. and my AFC is in tact, all the way back as well..

Ive only put one GSK, so im no expert on this, the reason i share this with u, is maybe it will help u as well, if u adjust it the way mine is, just a suggestion... it worked well for me

Tx

i dont know what it measured, since i fastened the screw of the measuring thing...
Starwheel is full forward, plate number 4, full forward, timing dont know, i think a bit advanced... afc all the way forward!
I know its set up to smoke when the pedal is hit, and i like that!

BUT it worries me, why it smokes kinda black at idle... (when starting in the morning)

Mine does it sometimes too. Its no big deal. Its just that the cylinder temp's are not hot enough yet to burn all the fuel, so it smoke's a little black.

I noticed what Eric said this morning is true, provided only my temperature was 54 degrees, it smokes when i first start it, and Eric's idea makes sence to me, once it is warmed up all the way then i have no smoke issues.

As for not measuring, well how are you gonna remain consistent if you dont measure and get ur springs as close to equal as possible? Dont know, maybe college made me a stickler for that kinda stuff.. but whatever works man... best of luck
