ok i have a 94 12 valve that i just installed a 4k govenor spring in, right now it wont let me get too far above 3000 rpm and it starts to make a weird pop and cutting out noise so i shift right at about 2900rpm insted of maybe 3200 or 3300, did i do something wrong when i installed it?
i measured the clearance between the nut and the top of the stud. and i got it pretty close to the original settings.

 

timing or fuel pressure will cause the popping

 

the timing has not been tweaked to my knowledge, the pump was rebuilt 2 years ago by preavious owner and a different cam plate was installed then...

 

timing can slip and over flow valves can wear out. fuel pressure is easy to check and fix with minimal tools. i would start there.

 

i could have sworn part of the requirements for a 4gsk is a enough fuel, and valve springs. probably its just going to sit there and miss on the top since you dont have much fuel. i mean a fuel plates good and all but with 160 dvs and stock injectors idk how you can make it.
