4K and auto

How will my stock auto hold up to the 4K? Wouldn't the line pressure be even higher than the 3K? I plan on a #10 in stock position and I tow a 3K boat maybe once a month. Also, how hard is it on the motor to take it up to 4K with 60lb springs, that seems like a ton of stress on the motor. Thanks

Jim

I'm no tranny expert but I dont think its easy to get your auto to shift that high, plus your going to be way past the engines power band anyway. I can see if you need the rpm for trap speed or something but for DD WOT shifts at 31/3200 seem to be plenty?

You wont be able to rev that high with the 175 pump. I know that with my almost modified to the max 160 pump I could only pull to like 3500 and then It would start popping. Because it ran out of fuel. The small pumps just simply do not move enough fuel to rev that high and keep pulling hard while doing it.

Yep. With my 3k I can only get 2800 full fueled RPM's, but, he should have the 180 pump which actually seem to do pretty good. The 160's, and 175's are the main ones that dont like to rev seems to me. Mine just starts sputtering at 2800 with stock DV's, and Injectors and the 3k. Id like to get 3300 or so full fueled rpm's out of mine. Do you guys think a 4k would do it along with some 191's, because I think that is what I am planning on doing in a few months.

As far as the auto holding it.... It will have less line pressure at all times except WOT because you are using less throttle travel to get more RPM, and the travel of the pedal is what adjusts line pressure. Im just afraid if I do a 4k, I wont like how touchy it is. I drove my buddies 215 with a 4k, and it is crazy touchy. Mine seems to be about where I like it. You might try a 3k, and them buy the smaller springs and make it a 4k later if you want. Good luck

Eric

I bought a 3gsk from Rip and it came with the springs for a 4gsk too (minus the valve springs). The 4gsk really woke up my 180 pump without the touchy pedal.
