4" exhaust and E-brake

Anythign to keep in mind if looking to do a 4" exhaust and e-brake? Any fitment problems if they aren't specifically sold to work together? Does the downpipe change for e-brake install?

What e-brake are you using and why did you choose it vs. the others?

I think the only two that are for 4" are the Pac and US Gear Decelerator

Ya..I'd like both....but likely won't happen at the same time. Wanna make sure I don't end up with a $500 - $1000 anchor.

Do the turbo mounted E-brakes accept the same flange as typical exhaust upgrades? Any length changes for downpipe? What about Magnaflow's 3.5" downpipe? I'm leaning towards Magnaflow or MBRP's budget stainless exhaust. Inquiring minds want to know.

I know a lot of you guys have 4" with e-brake.

This depends on the downpipe you want to use.........ebrakes like pacbrake and jacobs make a unit that directly replaces the stock elbow and accepts the stock downpipe........so, any 4" downpipe that was designed to mate up to the stock elbow will fit these ebrakes.........the problems start when you want to run a downpipe with a 4" inlet.......some say BD makes a unit that works with a 4" inlet but I haven't seen it for myself.........Banks' speed brake is available with a 4" outlet that mates to their own custom 4" downpipe............FWIW, I think it is a waste of money to bother with a 4" elbow on a stock HX35 that only has a 3" outlet on the exhaust housing anyway........just my .02..........alot of guys seem to run an inline ebrake when they run HX40's to avoid the lack of availability of elbows for those turbos.......

Morning Members,

CTD NUT is exactly correct if you run anything but the Banks brake all of our exhaust systems (and most any others) will bolt right on to the brake housing. Banks has a different outlet and that forces you purchase thier down pipe. If you're confused call us and we will be glad to help you get the correct info.

Thanks CTD...that clears up a lot.

And thanks Mark. Your budget stainless exhaust is on the "short" list along with Magnaflow's.

Seems 99% of the exhaust upgrades are designed for the stock elbow with at least a short section of transition to 4".

Now...which brake and why?

I would go MBRP...........IMO, they make the best downpipe......and my favourite tips ......I'm not a fan of the Magnaflow 3.5" downpipe...........I also don't like the 409 stainless because I have seen it develop surface rust far before the aluminized systems(at least on the heavily salted roads where I live)...........304 is far superior - truely a lifetime exhaust system.......

My vote goes for the Pacbrake for one simple reason over the Jake: You can buy the actuator separately when it leaks or seizes.......Jacobs does not offer a replacement actuator - you have to buy the whole unit .........the Banksbrake is slick - if you are up to spending that kind of money and a new downpipe........

No salt around here..excpet the occasional saltwater. With the tork-lift extended hitch my exhaust doesn't touch the water though. Even stock exhaust lasts many years here in CA. I don't think I've seen any salted roads on the whole west coast...just sand.

Got a read on BD e-brake??? What could one expect for lifetime of actuator? Any particular notes in the controllers or are they basically identical save for the Banks?

BD's brake works with 4" exhaust. I run thier brake and exhaust. 4" turbo to tip. It's about 2 1/2 years old now and zero problems.
