4", 5" Exhuast

Hey everyone, On my dad's 99 3500, the exhaust is starting to rust pretty bad, and i have been talking to him about straight piping it Since its an 99, it has no cat, so is there anything wrong with straight piping it(law, MTO, etc) And we are looking at either the 4" or 5". I have been searching around for the best pricing, best company, and I'm unsure about who to go with, etc. So if you guys should share what would be a good 4", 5" exhaust to go with, what company, and where to order it from. And another thing is where to get a good Exhaust Manifold to switch out the stock cracked one

Thanks

Dinner

www.powerbypoole.com has 4" exhaust for a fairly reasonable price, they also sell ATS 3 piece manifolds for $400.

I like MBRP exhaust, there will be no performance gain in the 5" over the 4" but if you like the look and sound of the 5" by all means go for it.

I have read that the sound difference between 4" and 5 is just that the five has a deeper done to it? And that a 4" you would here from farther away?

Exhaust

I bought 4" W/ muffler off ebay $275. They had straight pipe for around $235. Fit the truck perfect used all original mounts clamps had brackets welded to them. It took 45 minutes to install by myself.

I have a 4" custom exhaust, no cat, no muffler, ends with 2 5in tips in front of my passenger side wheel, really loud, drones a little around 2000 rpm or 80mph, I hear the 5in drone more. Contact LIPD if you want to know more about it, he also has good deals on MBRP. www.longislandperformancediesel.com

If you want your truck to sound the best it can and be the loudest and don't care about drone or price then by all means get the 5 inch. It sounds the best, and it is the loudest. I have 5 inch and love it. Definetely turns heads. Sounds very deep, and loud.

Would you fella's happen to have any sound clips, vids of your 4" or 5" exhuast? Preferably not stacks, but its probably close to the sound of full underbody exhaust

Got mine from ebay. Seller was Markoidaho. Great guy and product seems to be good quality. Haven't intalled it yet though... Can't beat the price!

He's got a 5" system reasonably priced as well.

What is the Markoidaho made of? Is the muffler about equal to stock?
Did you see improved mileage, torque, lower EGT's?
I guess even if it is alumuminized steel, that is hard to beat.
Anyone had one longer than 2 years?
Any rust?

Here is a clip of mine at the track. I have 4" turbo back no cat no muffler with a 5" tip.

It was a crappy run down the track, but that'll give you an idea of what 4" sounds like. I happen to LOVE the sound of mine...wouldn't change it for the world.
