I run 2100 @70mph with an auto and 4:10's. That is a nice sweet spot for some quick acceleration if needed. At least to play with some duramax's or powerstrokes

Check that calculator linked above. Tire size is a factor too.

My tires are not that much bigger than stock, just 285's....not a whole lot of difference.

Then you get a bigger tire to drop rpms if you want low revs like that 3rd gen. Double overdrive sounds like a good idea for an auto.

Clutch, I don't remember if you have the gsk yet but if you don't, get it. It will help you a lot since you are already turning alot of rpms. Do that first, then see if you want 3.73 or 3.55. I know my 3.55's don't have a problem turning 40's pulling a ski boat at 70.

i think im skipping the 3.73s and going with the 3.55s, guess that means a new carrier and all.

not sure about the double over drive but it does cruise at alot lower rpm. talked to a guy was claiming 22 mpg towing 11000,lbs . although i have a hard time swallowing 27 with 4:10s i have them and the best i have ever seen is about 20 going 55 . but isnt 30 gallons divided by 400 miles 26mpg?
