300 vs 370 injectors

I don't post much but I read alot of posts. I saw a set of 300hp injectors and they got my interest. I didn't want 370s because some people complain about smoke at idle. My question is are the 300hp a good improvement over stock injectors to warrent buying them Or should I just buy 370hp and deal with the added smoke?? Thanks.

I have a 97, 2500, 5 speed, only mod is a staight pipe for a cat.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

My 370's do not smoke at idle. Never have. They will smoke when you pour the coals with the right foot though. ;D That can be controlled with the AFC setting though.

They do give the truck a good kick in the rear though. I knoe several guy that tried the 300 injector route and ended up jerking them out and installing 370's anyway. Besides, I believe you can get the 370's at a better price than the 300's

Just my opinion though.

Go the plate route first, along with gauges. Either way, GAUGES!!! Once you start down the bombing road, there is NO turning back. A good set of gauges will keep your hinter covered for the rest of the bombing process. Biggest bang for the buck is the (TST) plate.
Greg

Gitchesome- except for the 3K springs, we have similar parts. What are you pulling on the Dyno?
Greg

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

try moving your stock plate forward to give you some power in the mean time. 370s or too much plate will make that clutch into powder.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

I pulled a 405RWHP on the dyno back in June. That #10 plate is a bottom end monster. We weren't able to get torque number off the dyno that day.

Several guys were complaining that the dyno was reading low. One guy dynoed in Vegas two months before at 468, he only got a 427 that day.

So who knows what it ran for real. ??? As long as it was over 400HP. ;D ;D ;D

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

98, you ran a 17 sec. 1/4 with 257 rwhp? Sounds kinda low. I ran dead even with a V6 stang with cold air, true duals, underdrive pulley, ported and polished upper and lower intake manifolds that had a time slip showing a 15.2 at 94 mph. That was with my current set up with the pump wire unhooked. I just timed myself in a semi 1/4 mile (watched odometer for .3 miles) and ran a 15.72 from a dead stop with the Comp on 1x5. It wasn't the most accurate but it wasn't that far off.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

BB- the big problem is that i don't have a governor spring kit...so with this stock high stall torque converter, it's basically useless. a guy with the same truck in a 94 with the same mods as me (but still less power due to the pump) was running a second faster than me. he has the 3000gsk though. once locked up on the highway (and when it holds), she flies.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

The 370s may not smoke at idle, but they sure do haze. They also put out a significant haze under load and it only gets worse with larger turbo housings and/or turbos. I have had both the 370s and 300s and would not recommend the 300s as they are just as bad as the 370s, but they don’t have the same power increase. The 370s are a great improvement in power if you don’t mind the haze. The best combination I had for towing was 370 injectors, Piers hx35 with 16cm housing and #11 plate in a 215 motor. It pulled very well. With just the 370s, HX40 and #10 plate I dynoed in the upper 400’s at BD back in the day. The 370s are good for the price per power equation.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

Thanks for all the help. Getting gauges is on the list with the first power mod. I beleive 370s are the ones.

Re:300 vs 370 injectors

Hard to tell for sure. I only lost 2 mpg with all my mods. With my driving style, 17 mpg ain't bad at all. About a 50% city driving on that kind of mileage.

Not bad for a 1 ton that can whoop a mustang.
