Definitely don't have the money now but may have some extra cash around tax time to buy a head. I've a close friend that says he will do all the port work. He has done lots of heads for SB fords but none for a diesel.

So by bolting on a 24v head you could maybe gain 100 hp on a 500 hp 12v due to increased flow?

I would say more like 25-50 with faster spool and slower egt climb over the 12v head.

For the amount of money it would take to put a 24v head, I don't think it would be worth while. 12v heads are cheap to buy, valve train is cheap, its reliable. Downside is the flow, which can be corrected by porting. Even having the intake milled off, ported and having a sheet metal intake put on, you'd be money ahead and have a better flowing head vs. putting on a stock 24v head. If you are going high rpm, you will need new valve springs which are more money than 12v springs, you might need new bridges as well. 24v have a better injector placement, but you still get big injectors with 12v that can run well. Not enough justification in my mind. P-pumping a 24v is to get rid of the lame duck injection system. The 12v head isn't as big of a hinderance as the VP. JMO.

Yeah, I guess I see your point. It is still a thought though.

The CR 24 head flows more air than VP head. So if you want to spend money...

Newer style pistons are required for the newer heads. Everything thing else should work. I've never tried it, but a few guys have done it. How much power you planing on running? I see that Ross is making custom piston for our motors. Originally I was planning on just running stock pistons but I don't know. You planning on running the twin CP pump or a p pump to feed the beast.
