24 valve 600 hp, street truck how to get there?

alright so everyone here is going to kill me but i got rid of one of my 12 valves : ( i miss her dearly but she was going to cost me to much $$ to make her do the things i wanted to do because she got so tall she was just a show truck.

anyways so new truck is a 2001 stock tires and rims, biggest i'd go on tire is a 35. truck already has modds done to it

ats tranny
ats exhuast manifold
intake
4inch exhuast
turbo off a HO truck
studds
fluid dampener
stock injectors but nozles put on ( small ones )
edge chip
intake manifold
fuel system

what do i need to get to 600hp that i can drive every day here is what i was thinking

tranny needs a flex plate because one wasnt installed
intercooler and heavy duty boot and clamp kit
some kind of single turbo that will get me there
injectos 150 or 200 hp ones
and then maybe a upgraded vp ( i dont know much about the vp but i know they get talked about alot.... and im sure there are 12 valve guys that will have there two cents, haha but i still have my baby 97 and 385k shes still perrin away.

let me know what u guys think? i'd be really cool to hit 600 on #2 only but might need something added, i plan to hit 6 on a single right now, then when i can aford the head to be ported and firering and p-pump, then twins, but thats lets just say a long ways away ..... in the wish list section.

thanks for any imput

One of our members in the Alberta chapter did 570 on fuel only with a set of Mach 4 injectors, HTT 62/71/13SS, Edge drag comp and an SO VP. That was on an HO truck. Another member in our chapter did 570 as well this last outing, bigd450. Here's his sig.

2001 5spd 4x4, Juice-attitude/Adrenaline-pulse, Super B special, Arp studs, 110# Hamilton springs, CR Head O-ringed, Opies bypass, Peak intercooler boots, Mach 4.5's, SBC FE, BD aux pump, BD intake & 4" exh., DSS stabilizer and trac bar retrofit, leveled & 35" ATZ's., BD short shifter, Espar D4, Mag-Hytec rear diff cover.

Your list seems about right, I'm not sure if you'd need an upgraded vp but that all depends I guess.

But after reading the list that Tate posted I'm wondering how close I am. O.o I think I need to get on some rollers.

yea the trucks decently fast now, but it would be nice to get 600 out of it. i'll figure out a way just alot of tunning, and maybe some water meth.

personally i would stay away from water meth imo. after running it for over a year i didnt think it was worth it. if your going to be street driving it you should get a cam and a good size charger silver 64 or silver bullet. with some 200hp injectors and a drag comp will get you there or close. im going to be running a drag comp silver bullet 7x0.012 injectors (175hp) dont know what cam yet, and some other things if i did my homework right that should be around 550+

I would go a bit bigger than 200's.

Skip the intercooler. At least until you have done everything else.

You can get there with a single, but you will be able to use more power daily with twins.

A cam may help with spool, may help a slight bit with power. 600+ isn't real tough with these motors.

I was thinking that how much a cam would help on my setup.

I'm still very sceptic about my horsepower rating, that will I get in the 600's . I guess you are talking about rear wheel horsepower?

My truck feels very strong and quick, but I'm used to get a lot less than I should get...

Go with Mach 6's! Nothing less should be even consired.

Skip the intercooler. Go with some Mach 6's. Plan on twins in the future if you tow very much. Something like an HTT 64/71/14 would be good or go with an HTT 62/71/13SS and use it later as the small charger in a twin set-up. I personally prefer the TST Competition model stacked with a EZ or in your case stacked with the Edge comp but unhook the VP's wire tap for the comp. I've ran both and prefer the TST setup over the drag comp.

im a little confused? you say to unhook the wire for the edge comp? but that will give him power levels only going to 3x5 correct? what gains will he get by that?

You can only one wire tap box at a time, either the edge tapped, or the tst tapped. The tst is more agressive, but lacks timing. Thats where the edge comes in.

ive been covinced not to do a cam! i dont think i will have enough time for a project like this and i dont have the tools. unless someone has a shop i can use in the by area.
tate what do you think is a better bang for the buck, a drag comp or the tst comp stack?
