2003 Wheel Question

What is the offset for the stock 17" X 8" wheels? How do you measure it?

I have the steel 17x7.5's and want to upgrade to an aftermarket wheel. I don't want to rub and want to go with 285's. I found a place that will custom offset aftermarket wheels but I need the exact demensions. Any help would be appreciated.

Re:2003 Wheel Question

Thanks Matt, that was the info that I needed, duh, I guess I could have looked at the stamping on the wheels, did not think about that, I'm feeling pretty thick about now! ;D

The place I found is at:

www.stocktonwheel.com

The Explorer wheel is what I want. Look in the light truck section and scroll down. The website says they can make it in any back space/offset and that 17" 8 lugs are available. I am going to call them this morning and see about price and shipping. Then I will post up and let you know.

CTDCAL

Re:2003 Wheel Question

Here's the ones I'm thinking of. 4.625" of backspacing...will that work? What's the bolt pattern? See any of these that'll work?

Welds will work.
Kinda pricey.
Stay away from the 2 piece, you can't keep them clean.
(water gets trapped in the seam in the middle, and collects gunk which chooses to come out after everything is dry and shiny)
They will stick out more, how much depends on the tire choice.
My 16x10 Stonecrusher's with 315/75R16's stick out almost 3 inches.

American Racing has most of the Weld styles, forged with the same weight rating, for cheaper.

I found this out after the fact of course.

Oh, the bolt pattern is 8x6.5,
just don't mistakingly get the ones with 3.625 backspacing, you want the most possible.

I now wish I would have gone with 17inch ones, with the new trucks coming with 17" stock, more tire choices will be available quite soon I bet.

Re:2003 Wheel Question

If you did call Stockton, I am sure that you found out that they are very expensive. I was quoted $155 for a bare(no paint) 17x8 8 lug. That is without shipping. That is just insane for a steel wheel. I have Allied black steel wheels. 17x8 with 5" of back spacing and they cost me $65 each. Obviously they stick out a little more than stock but with my Bushwackers, I think they are perfect. I don't think you will have any problems with 285s rubbing especially if you have a leveling kit. I have 35x12.5 BFG Muds and they just barely rub on my mud flap at full turn.

Hub centric wheels means for a special way to attach a center cap. I would like chrome for me!
Matt,

I was out of town and just got back in so I have not called them for a price and info yet. I will try to get at it today. I like the wheels, but someone above mentioned that they were pretty expensive. Might try the Allied wheels if I can find a source.

CTDCAL.

Re:2003 Wheel Question

I found these in the correct 17x8 with 6" back space and hub centric design but the manufacture says their 17's will not clear the 2500's brakes??
