2001 47re auto

I have EZ edge a 4" turbo back and a cold air can add stage one injectors without hurting my stock trans, I dont tow anything, its empty all the time.

from what Im aware of towing isnt the biggest threat to this transmission. Ive always been told that what tears up the 47RE quicker than towing is adding HP and especially torque to it. Its working at its close to maximum when its stock and add more to it thats when the issues begin

How many miles is on the trans? I had a comp box and smarty in mine with 145k on the clock and the converter started slipping in lock up. It all depends on how the trans was taken care of and what its like internally. I had mine flushed and bands adjusted and it helped out alot with the two but converter still slipped when on it hard. Now with the stock insides just a GB converter, Stage 3's, smarty, and comp box it has no problem holding even pulling 20k.

it went out at like 140000 so i put a new stock trans and hd converter, Ive been pretty good changing the fluids. It has been running stock till about 3000 miles ago when i added the edge ez, FASS fuel system and cold air. I just want to get a little more power out of it by adding stage 1 injectors. Or maybe I should just get the edge comp? what do you think?

They only thing about the comp is taping the pump. Do you feel safe doing it? If it was me I would go drag comp, but a regular comp would be ok. At least then you can adjust the amount of power you want if it does start to slip back it down a level.

You could get away with a set of rv 275's on the stock tranny and be just fine. You could also step up to say a mach 1.6 or so and should be alright. A comp is definately going to stress the tranny a lot more than a mild set of injectors.

Stock Tranny

I have a stock tranny and have been running with the JWA for 1 year rvs for 3 months and an htb2 for a month and no problems. I plan on getting a new one in the begining of summer but i think what made it last so long was that I never really pound on it until the converter locks. I have heard of some people blowing the tranny in a month I guess it depends on how you drive.
