1996 performance mods???

I have a 2003 model CTD. I am not that familiar with the 2nd gen. trucks. My brother has a 96 model that he wants to get a bit more performance out of without spending an arm and a leg. We pull trailers not racing our trucks. His 96 seems to struggle a bit on some of the loads. He actually has a 89 model with over 500k that pulls better than his 96. What would be a good combination of mods for the 96 to get it up to where it should be?

I would suggest that you begin by adding a #10 plate and set the timing at about 15 to 16 degrees. After that then remove anything that will cause a restriction in the exhaust and add a BHAF. With just a plate and timing mine is quite a bit more powerful than stock.

Number 11 plate???

Well, I have done some research for my brother's truck. He has a 96 model CTD with the 5 speed manual tranny. From what I have read, it looks like the TST #11 kit is the ticket for his truck. If I am reading this right, this should get him up to about 280hp and 680lbs of torque and still stay within the parameters of a stock truck without doing other mods. Please let me know if this is correct. Thanks so much for the info too!!!

Minor mods to get it up to speed

Fuel plate (10 or better)
Governers spring kit
Pump timing (16 degrees is a happy medium)

That should help u get it as good or better than that 89....

oh my goodness...

Well, I got a #11 plate from TST for my bro this week. It's hard to believe this thing costs 200 bucks!!! Not much to it. I guess ur paying for the technology not the item. It doesn't seem to amount to much. I guess after xmas we will see how it runs. Wish us luck!!!
