1995 ram Torque converter
I want to replace the stock TC in my 2500 ram and have no clue as to what I should have for towing. I tow a fiver in the summer that has a gross of 10 K .The trans has 268900 kl on it and has never been rebuilt.I`am looking for a fan trans cooler for under the box to help keep the trans cool and thought I would install a new TC at the same time. If some one could tell me what type ect TC I should have I would be grateful . Thanks Don T

Well I will call them and ask about the TC and see what they have to say. I have no plans to rebuild the tranny now as it works great and shifts good with the altered valve body. I can make the TC slip at slow speeds (55 mph) in OD locked. So I wanted to replace the TC now and in two years when I will travel across Canada I will install a $4500.00 rebuild then. I think if its not broke then let it alone.I had read somewhere on this site where someone with a 95 truck with the same modes I have has installed another TC and I wanted to know what the guy had used and why. I just wanted some info as to what I should consider when buying a replacement TC .Now with the 3000 rpm governor spring installed I don`t think I will have the same problems with the jump from 3rd locked to OD locked . I will be able to get the truck to 60 mph towing before I use the OD and lock on the TC. I will know this week when my fiver gets new tires installed (Michelin 215/85/16 E rated).I will not be at full load but I should see what the 3000 rpm G spring change has to the way my truck tows my fiver and test the Maxbrake then also. Thanks for your advice. later Don T

well from what i know a good converter for a diesel is one with a lower stall and a triple disc will not slip. i did a triple disc converter with roughly a 1700 stall and a high pressure valve body and my tranny shifts good and holds the power i am putting through it with no slip. I am not a transmission expert just telling you my experience and what i have read calling an expert is always best with the transmissions on these trucks good luck.
