Truck has K&N Intake and want to change....
Just purchased my truck and it has a K&N Intake and filter and after a lot of reading would like to get rid of it.
Should I try to find a stock airbox and run a stock filter or go the BHAF route? I will be doing a lot of pulling with this truck, but don't plan on turning the pump up much, if any.
Thanks

BHAF or *****'s Whistler are both popular and fairly cheap DIY options compared to off the shelf goodies like the AFE stage 2. AFE Stage 2 is popular if you want off the shelf. It has a huge inlet like the whistler.

id stick with the kn. they been around for alot of years cant be that bad. i have a pre filter on mine to keep it clean. if your drive in high dust areas then i would go to stock.
every time i take my intake tube off its clean with no dust on the inside. sooooo
belive what you will.

I'm not sure if it is K&N specifically or if it is ALL oiled filters, but they don't seem to get much respect on the forums here. In other high performance circles, K&N gets lots of respect as a good product. I'm not entirely sure why there is a difference.

http://home.roadrunner.com/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm go back to stock. with all of the warnings from cummins about k&n it is hard to believe people are still buying them two quotes i like are ( just use window screen, it filters just as good and cost a lot less ) and ( it fits in with obama's recovery plan, it keeps the parts manufacturer and mechanics in plenty of work.)

The stock air system is good for around 500 HP, and is fairly readily available from junkyards. It also does an excellent job.
Why worry about the problems that may arrise from using aftermarket equipment if you aren't trying to build a killer high horsepower truck?.

with all of the warnings from cummins about k&n
When I bought my '95s new Cummins and the dealer sold K&Ns for the 5.9.
My trucks came with them as an option.

K&N certainly was dealer installed though.
Cummins delivers it's engines to Chrysler without air filters, boxes tubing, intercoolers etc.
That part of the design is Dodge's responsibility.

I've been telling people to ditch K&N's on turbo vehicles for years. Even after showing customers the red cotton found inside their turbochargers still didn't convince some of them.
Go find a stock inlet tube and put a BHAF on there and be done with it.
