12v or 24v

I sometimes hate to say it but i am a powerstoke fan. but i really am thinking about building a truck up. I was just wondering what motor is better for modifications the 12v or 24v cummins. The main reason i was thinking about gettin a 12v is because it is easier to work on and it seems like a lot of simple things to add some easy power.

If the 12v is better what are some good starting mods? i already know what i could do for a 24v

Thanks.

12 valve all the way. Start out with guages, then GSK, then fuel plate then injectors, then turbo, then DV's then........ Oh you get the point.

i have a 24V but if your building a truck i would go with the 12V for sure.
i've seen what that they can do and it's pretty amazing how simple it is, and cheap, not to mention, to get that extra power!

A 12V is cheaper to build up and if you have enough money, you can get more power out of a 12V. With a 24V though, you can just plug and play with a chip (until the VP44 goes out). With ever you choose, it'll be a step up from your powerstroke jk, sort of.

I owned a nice '97 PSD for 45,000 miles and came over to a CTD for the simplified wrenching, good mpg and inexpensive mods.
It is a much easier engine to put your faith in, money wise and otherwise.

The PSD was great, but...

12 valve.

It really gets under your skin. I really am loving mine, never could go back, and don't lust after a 24.

The 24v engine is more all round drivable. It will make more useable power thru out the entire rpm range. Yes the 12v will make more HP when set-up right. I'm thinking that the 24v is a more complicated installation with all the computers and it might take work in your ford. Just for simplicity sake, I would go 12v.

Truck in my sig has a 5" staight pipe and I love the way it sounds. Some people have bad problems with a drone on the 5", but I've never heard it. It is a deeper tone than the 4". As far as turbos go I have a B-1 and am very happy with it. It cools all of the fueling mods really good and it sounds like a darned jet engine taking off.

Few things in this world sound as good to my ears as a straight piped 12v...

If you are unsure if you want a manual/auto I'd say get a 96-98 manual, gets you the big pump, and 215/460 stock. Another $400 will fix the KDP, get you some gauges, a 3K GSK, boost elbow, you grind the plate, and still get you most of a tank of gas.
