#10 plate questions,any input please.

I have a # 10 plate in stock position, I know I can gain hp by moving it forward. My questions are will it hurt the life of the engine, how much hp can I get by adjusting that and the star wheel, and does the intake manifold gasket have to be removed? And also I have a triple disc billet converter billet pistons and washers. the tranny has an unlimited hp warranty(to make it short) should I install a lock up switch, will it hurt anything?? and can anyone help me understand how to do that?? any help please.

You will be fine moving the plate full forward as long as you have an EGT guage to keep an eye on temps.

As for the lockup switch - use the "SEARCH" function at the top of the page and search for LOCKUP or MYSTERY switch. You should find all the answers you need as well as wiring diagrams to show you exactly how to wire it up.

moving the plate full forward won't gain u that much more HP compared to 3/4 the way forward. Plus u'll loose about 2-3 mpg with it full forward. Leave the plate where it is and install a 3gsk, u'll be VERY happy.

does 13 mpg and 15 mpg if I baby it sound right for my truck. I had a 1996 2500 4x4 (stock) it always got 17. just curious.

With a fully built tranny like u have, u better find out if a "mystery switch" will void the warranty on that puppy. If its as built as u say, the valve body will already lock the TC where it outta be. U may want to look into a box that controls lockup at your pre determined points, like what BD Power has. Just my 2 cents.

If you haven't already got one, the BEST thing you could do is put a 3K or 4K GSK (governer spring kit) in it. The #10 did a little on my truck but the GSK made a BIG difference. Not only made more power but MUCH better to drive in all conditions and even helped the shifting on my stock tranny.
